As autumn sets in, the Chinese biotech skincare brand SIMPLY THIS has officially launched Season 7 of its 2026 Net-Zero Carbon Initiatives, unveiling a new limited-edition Fearless Essential Oil Balm and continuing a sustainability program the brand has carried forward for years.
The Net-Zero Carbon Initiatives date back to 2020, when SIMPLY THIS established its own zero-carbon Black Pomegranate orchard in the Daliang Mountains, using forest carbon sequestration to offset the carbon footprint generated during production. By 2023, the brand had completed carbon footprint verification across its entire product line, achieving carbon neutrality for all products in inventory. Every pomegranate harvest season since then, SIMPLY THIS has turned what the mountains yield into a limited-edition zero-carbon keepsake for its customers.
Extending this exploration of the Daliang Mountains' local culture, this season's new Fearless Essential Oil Balm also incorporates intangible-cultural-heritage (ICH) elements. The balm draws its fragrance from cold-mountain Black Pomegranate; its shape echoes the mountain-ridge lines of the Yi people's traditional felt cape, known as the chaerwa; and its charm is a hand-lacquered Yi bead crafted by a recognized inheritor of Yi lacquerware, itself an intangible cultural heritage craft. With naturally derived ingredients accounting for 93.47% of its formula, the balm nourishes and scents the skin while doubling as a wearable charm.
Unlike most brands, whose environmental efforts focus narrowly on carbon reduction, SIMPLY THIS's Net-Zero Carbon Initiatives connect ecology, scientific research and local culture. Anchored by a single Black Pomegranate, they weave together environmental responsibility, skincare innovation and the preservation of ethnic-minority intangible cultural heritage — offering a fresh reference point for sustainability in Chinese skincare.
